Gas Contemporary is based in North Shields and runs a program of exhibitions out of an old shop in a small shopping centre, the most unusual and interesting space within the gallery is a safe which offers a unique environment to view work inside. The space it occupies has not been turned into a traditional white cube gallery and this is one of the charms of the space.
