The Life Science centre opened in 2000 and is was built to inspire people in the North East to enjoy and discover science and technology. The science village houses a number of state of the art facilities which do amazing research including Newcastle Universities Institute of Genetic Medicine and two NHS facilities, The Fertility Centre and Northern Genetics Service. Open to the public are a number of educational zones focusing on different areas from space, Experiments to The sphere.
