National Glass Centre
OPEN: Monday - Sunday 10am - 5pm
The National Glass Centre is dedicated to the history of glass making. they have a number of galleries with changing exhibitions. One really exciting thing about the glass centre is that they do daily live demonstrations from glass blowing to flameworking. All this and it is free admission as well makes it a really great way to spend a day. Another amazing feature of this venue is its roof which is made from 3,250 square metres of Glass and can hold 460 people at a time showing the versatility and stern of glass.
The centre is also home to the University of Sunderlands Glass and Ceramics Department and Institute for international Research in Glass. Having not visited before I’m looking forward to planning my first visit to explore this stunning building.
