Gemma and Matt’s House is an interpretation of the view the artist sees from the doorstep of a close friend’s house. Dorsett identifies the scene with the eponymous family, intimate conversations and greetings, being offered a glimpse into someone’s life and being allowed in. The work evokes universal ideas of how we perceive the lives of others, childhood curiosity of looking behind closed doors, and the ways we create and perform lifestyles.
