This Is It, Isn't It? is the first of 3 exhibitions curated by M I L K, an artists collective based in Newcastle as part of their takeover of WORKPLACE GATESHEAD, This Is It, Isn’t It? explores ideas of self-doubt, self-awareness and self-reflexivity as a core of artistic practice.
M I L K are an artist-led collective based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Formed in 2015, M I L K aim to provide a platform for emerging artists to exhibit. As practicing artists themselves, M I L K members perceived a lack of opportunities and recognised exhibition spaces in Newcastle for early career and emerging artists. M I L K seeks to address this discord with a varied programme of exhibitions and events focused on supporting early career artists both regionally and nationally.

Philip Coyne
b. 1989
Recent exhibitions include: Business as Usual, Turf Projects, London; You think the only people who are people, are the people who you look like. But if you walk in the footsteps of a stranger, you learn things you never knew you never knew, Two Queens, Leicester; Free Things, Set The Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Leeds; A Place to Loiter In, Assembly House, Leeds (solo). Philip is currently studying on the Fine Arts post-graduate course at The Sandberg Instituut, Amsterdam.
Grace Denton
b. 1988, Dewsbury
Recent exhibitions and projects include: Both Things Are True, NewBridge Books, Newcastle; Living Room, Baltic39, Newcastle; You Know the Rules, Baltic39, Newcastle; Going Going Gone, Leeds College of Art, Leeds. Upcoming exhibitions: Grace has been invited to respond to the current Pester & Rossi exhibition at Baltic39. She is also currently studying on the BxNU MFA programme at Northumbria University in partnership with BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
Joe Fletcher Orr
